The Redland game was always going to come with a whole lot of unease, however, the 2s gathered themselves together, took a deep breath and attacked it head on. Although Redland were a very confident, well organised and polished team, they hadn't anticipated our grit and sheer determination. Even with some of our players having to play way out of their comfort zones and normal positions, Lydney held Redland back and put them under a great deal of pressure until just before half time when they managed to score their first goal. With Redland looking slightly frustrated and confused by the low score line, Lydney were even more determined to keep it that way and with our players settling and finding confidence in their unfamiliar positions, we came into the second half with even more gusto ! Redland managed to get another goal past us, however, this was quickly followed by numerous spells of very strong, enthusiastic attacking opportunities from Lydney which led to our amazing goal. With everything to play for, both teams upped the pressure but unfortunately, Redland found the goal again, before we did and the final score was a respectable 3-1 to Redland. Regardless of the score, we can away feeling victorious and so proud to be Lydney.
